INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. |
Remove the unit from its cabinet and locate the PLL 02A integrated circuit. |
2. |
Using a razor knife, cut the traces of pins 9 and 10. |
3. |
Solder a 2200 ohm resistor across the cut of each trace. |
4. |
Solder a 2200 ohm resistor from the channel selector site of pin 10, to circuit board ground at pin 16. |
5. |
Solder the emitter lead of the transistor to ground at pin 16 pushing the flat side down against the board. |
6. |
Solder a 270K ohm resistor to the base lead of the transistor. Solder the other end to the channel selector side of pin 10. (See Diagram Below) |
7. |
Solder a wire to the collector lead of the transistor using sleeving over the leads to avoid shorts. |
8. |
Solder each of the remaining wires in the cable to all pins shown in the diagram checking all connections. |
9. |
Solder a 2200 ohm resistor across the top terminals of the DPDT switch. |
10. |
Solder the four wires of the control cable to the indicated terminals of the DPDT switch as shown. |
11. |
Drill a 1/4" hole in the right side of the unit leaving the bottom cover on to insure proper drilling. Be careful not to damage any parts while drilling. |
12. |
Mount the switch with the provided hardware and adjust the VCO coil for full frequency operation. |
POWER TUNING:
1. |
Solder a short jumper across diode D at the right rear of the unit. |
2. |
Adjust control RV-2 fully clockwise. |
3. |
Adjust the tuning coils for maximum modulated power on channel 24. |
FREQUENCY OFFSET:
A frequency offset switch can be added yielding all odd and even frequencies. Begin by cutting the trace of the 10.240 MHz crystal directly at the crystal. Solder a small disc capacitor around 10 to 47pf across the cut raising the frequency 5 KHz. Solder a wire on each side of the cut, and back to the noise blanker switch shorting the circuit back to normal operation.
