Uniden PC-66A
EXPO 100 EXPANDER
MODEL S- or S+
Uniden PC-66A (SM5126 PLL)
Installation:
1. |
Remove the covers from the unit and locate resistor R69, located along side IC-2 (TA7310P). Unsolder the end of R69 closest to jumper wire JP-12. |
2. |
Unsolder one end of JP-15 (closest to resistor R62). Solder the free ends of jumper wire JP-15, and R69, together vnth a short wire. Also solder the expanders White wire to this junction of JP-15, and R69. |
3. |
Solder the expanders Green wire into the hole where JP-15 was originally soldered. There is a large blank hole near this point that connects to this trace. The blank hole is a better location to solder the Green wire, if you choose. |
4. |
Solder the small 100 pf capacitor across the outer terminals of ceramic filter CF-1, located been coils L3, and L4. |
5. |
Solder the expanders Red wire to the switched +13.8 VDC at the ON/OFF switch. |
6. |
Solder the expanders Black wire to circuit board ground. |
Tuning:
* Power on the unit and tune the channel selector to channel 10. While switching the expander between the Hl-LO positions, tune coils L3, and L4. for best receive of both sides. You will have to compromise this tuning slightly, since the receive noise will be loudest in different positions. Tune coil L10 for best transmit power the same way.
AM POWER = JUMP DIODE D10 AMC = CUT D9
