EXPO 100 EXPANDER

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1.

Remove the covers from the unit and locate Point X as shown on the chart below.

2.

Solder the expanders white wire to Point X as Indicated.

3.

Solder the expanders black wire to circuit board ground.

4.

Solder the expanders red wire to 13.8V (+) supply voltage.

5.

Solder the expanders green wire to the center of the clarifier control.

CLARIFIER TRACKING

1.

Locate the two outalte termin la of the clarifier control and cut the wires or traces to them.

2.

Solder a short wire from the bottom terminal of the clarifier, ant the other end to circuit boards ground.

3.

Solder a wire from the other terminal to the regulated 9V (+) source voltage. (See Chart)

4.

Unsolder and remove the stripped end of the varactor diode and solder the provided choke in series with it. (See Chart)

5.

Cut and remove the transmit buss voltage to the varactor. (See Chart)

COBRA/PRESIDENT/SEARS UNITS:

The source voltage for the clarifier modification can be found at diode D50 located on the right side of the unit at the 2SA473 regulator transistor. Solder the RF choke in series with the stripped end of the varactor diode D30. Adjust the frequency range of the clarifier by tuning L16 and L18 for AM and LSB. Unsolder and remove transformer L17 from the board. Solder a short Jumper wire across the two outside connections. (Three hole side.) Cut the transmit buss voltage by removing diode D32.

MIDLAND UNITS:

The source voltage for the clarifier modification can be found at capacitor C165 (+). Solder a 3300 ohm 1/4 watt resistor to the blank terminal on the clarifier, and the other end to capacitor C165(+). Cut the transmit source voltage by removing diode D49 and resistor R148. Cut and remove capacitors C22, C23, and C24 from the circuit.

Adjust CT1, CT2, and CT3 for the proper tuning ranges on AM, USB, and LSB.
