INSTALLATION #11
This section describes the DS-400 installation to the SM5104 chassis.
1. Locate and remove
the SM5104 PLL Chip.
2. Connect the center of Coax #1 to the point where Pin 2 of the SM5104
was connected.
3. Connect a jumper wire between the points where Pins 7 and 8 were connected.
4. Remove the varactor diode D307.
5. Reinstall the cathode (banded end) of D307 to the point where the anode
was connected.
6. Solder the anode of D307 to ground.
7. Disconnect the side of R330 (10K) going to Q306.
8. Connect the center of Coax #2 to the disconnected lead of R330.
9. Install the variable loop filter as shown in Figs. 14 and 15. (Seepage
6)
10. Short the 1 K resistor (R5) inside 400. Refer to Fig. 21.
11. To comply with FCC regulations remove Q704.
12. Connect the black wire to a good ground point. (Radio circuit ground)
13. Connect the red wire to a 12V source. Refer to programming section.
